About the Role:
The Manager, Solution Engineering is fundamentally responsible for leading a team of Solution Engineers to provide strategic, technical and commercial pre-sale support to the revenue team in relation to the sale of the Virtuoso SaaS platform to Virtuoso partners and customers. The Manager, Solution Engineering also provides their experience and expertise to customers and partners in order to demonstrate, articulate and prove the value of the Virtuoso platform to enable acquisition of new customers who will see genuine value and continued adoption of the platform to ensure revenue growth and customer & revenue retention for the company.
With Virtuoso being a SaaS platform that does not require customisation of extensive integration, the Team Lead, Solution Engineering will focus predominantly on:
Leading a team of Solution Engineers to provide value based, contextualised demos of the Virtuoso platform for automated testing against applications under test (AUTs) and with test cases that are relevant to Virtuoso partners and customers; and
Leading a team of Solution Engineers who will in turn lead & managing short term, proof of value (POV) based pilots to enable partners and customers to experience and use the platform off-the-shelf, to learn how it works, to build plans for implementing the platform and ultimately to prove the value proposition that Virtuoso test automation platform provides
Provide team leadership to Solution Engineers and Senior Solution Engineers
Report on Solution Engineering activities and outputs to either/or theSVP Sales and Product Management.
Work closely with either the SVP (Sales) and others to obtain regular direction on strategic and operational matters, in turn leading the team on a day-to-day basis in line with strategy and operational guidance.
What we would like to see in you!
Experience of team leadership working in line for managers and senior managers to translate strategic and operational guidance into the day to day running of the team
Ability to ensure teams of Solution Engineers and Senior Solution Engineers are maximising day to day productivity in line with KPIs regarding presale support
Day-to-day management of the team of solution engineers, while working closely with the Head of Solution Engineering and VP of Solution Engineering for people management of the team
Expertise in providing value based, contextualised demos, using a story based approach to engage partners and customers, combining technical and soft skills throughout
Ability to lead on running and managing pilots, including planning, agreeing and then managing all activities to ensure that success criteria are met, issues are dealt with in a timely manner, and ultimately that the agreed value is not just proven, but exceeded within the agreed pilot timeframes
Capability to work both autonomously and as part of a team within all demos, pilots and related solution engineering activities
A comprehensive knowledge of the Virtuoso platform - training is provided to all consultants with set learning milestones, with an expectation of continuous learning
A knowledge of functional & API testing practices and procedures
An ability to troubleshoot and problem solve, especially to understand how the Virtuoso platform can run against the customer or partner networks, but also against the customer or partner applications under test (AUTs)
